Right then, who else loves a good family photo session? There’s something about Winter that just makes it extra special; the soft light, the rosy cheeks, cosy layers, and that magical little bit of chaos that comes with getting everyone together and smiling (sort of) at the same time.
Now, we might be a tinyyyyy bit biased, but we think Winter family photos are some of the best you’ll ever take. There’s no pretending to be cool or casual when it’s three degrees outside and someone’s lost a mitten... It’s all real moments, real laughs, and proper family warmth (even if your toes are frozen!).
The trick, of course, is to embrace it all! The snow, the wind and the hot chocolate stains, just go with it. If it snows where you are, grab the coats, the hats, the dog, and get out there. There’s something ridiculously lovely about seeing kids tumbling about in the snow, completely unaware that you’re desperately trying to get a decent photo for this year’s Christmas card. If you’ve got a woodland nearby, even better! Frosted branches, evergreens, and those soft grey skies make the dreamiest backdrop.
If it’s just too cold or too wet (likely too wet if you're here in the UK like us), bring the fun indoors. A fire crackling, fairy lights twinkling, everyone snuggled under a blanket watching a film or baking something messy - it’s pure gold. Half the time the best photos come from those in-between moments anyway: a flour-covered nose, a giggle mid-cookie-bite, a sibling side-eye that’s so them.
As for what to wear, you’ll want things that look natural and effortless but still have that pulled-together feel. Perhaps coordinated, not matching? Think cosy textures, deep colours, and layers you can peel off if someone starts overheating mid-photo (there’s always one). Luckily, we can help you there... Our Me & Henry pieces photograph beautifully. Soft fabrics, gentle colours, and styles that kids can actually move (and roll in the snow) in. They’re comfortable, classic, and you won’t get the dreaded “it’s itchy!” meltdown halfway through your shoot.
We’ve seen so many families use our pieces for photos over the years - matching brothers, cheeky cousins, baby and big brother moments, and honestly, it makes us beam every time. Our clothes are designed to be lived in, played in, and yes, photographed in. Whether it’s one of our soft woven shirts, a cosy sweater, or a pair of little overalls with room for all that energy, you really can’t go wrong.
And don’t stress about the “perfect” picture. The one where everyone’s looking at the camera at the same time is probably the least interesting one anyway. The real gems are the ones where someone’s laughing too hard, the baby’s pulling a face, or the dog’s just run off with a hat. That’s your family: wonderfully chaotic, perfectly imperfect.
So this Winter, grab the camera (or your favourite photographer), layer up in your Me & Henry best, and go make some memories. Build the snowman, bake the cookies, chase the light through the woods, whatever feels right for your crew!
Because, at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. Real families, real fun, and clothes that make you feel good while you’re doing it.
And if you do take photos in your Me & Henry pieces this winter, PLEASE TAG US ON INSTAGRAM: @meandhenrykids - we love seeing them (and yes, we’ll probably shout about how great you look).
Here’s to cold noses, warm hearts, and a camera roll full of happy chaos.
